Clinic Tour and Tortillas

Today our friend Donna gave the boys a tour of the urgent care center where she works. It was a slow day, so there weren’t really any patients around. The boys got to see how vitals are taken, and got their height and weight and vision checked. They got to see treatment rooms and the…

Books are Happening!

I’m resisting the urge to status post these on Facebook, in order to give more attention to my blog. I’m also going to try to resist the urge that this means I need to come up with a lot of extra words. But I can’t usually help myself. Isaac sat down and read a book by…

Ba-Dum Ching!

I’m so ridiculously excited! After manymany years of consideration, a lifetime of desire, months of planning and hunting, and a trip to a store that acted like they wanted our business, we finally bought DRUMS! Yay! They are so pretty. All sparkly blue and noisy and wonderful.  See?! [I have adjusted the positioning since the…

Home Made Marshmallows

During our third day of home school, we decided to make home made marshmallows. I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to give it a whirl. I got out all the ingredients and measuring devices and had Ian (the others lost interest after the first scoop of sugar) do the measuring work (I sneaked…

Knight in Shining…Sunburn?

Here’s our 5 year old, having lost his first tooth on Oct 22 while we were in Florida. It involved an apple, and he was a bit shaken afterwards, being the first loss and all, but the Florida tooth fairy apparently pays high dollar. I guess this means he’s really really not a baby any…

Mathmagic

Ian begged me all week to make lemonade. Finally, I bought two bags of lemons and started the project. Our favorite recipe involves a cup of water per lemon and a quarter cup of sugar per lemon, a lot of peeling or zesting, soaking the peels/zest in the sugar, dissolving it in boiled water, removing…

April Recipe

Mix all ingredients, except crackers and butter. Scoop into small casserole dish. Mix crackers and butter in quart-sized baggie. Top casserole with crackers. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.

Veggie Table

I’ve been trying the participation method of garnering the boys’ interest in veggies. I find them a job to do in hopes that they will want to eat what they helped make. It’s been successful with at least the first bite. I planned some steak and veggie skewers for the grill and thought up the…

This week has been a blast

Spring is here and the diapers haven’t even melted yet. Every morning I’ve been playing Waffle House with my new cast iron two-burner griddle. The item apparently on the boys’ menu is pancakes. I mixed it up one day and made them SpongeBob Eggs. Isaac ate his right up, but Ian only wanted to talk…

What’s another word for hindsight?

I know, I know.  I’m slacking.  I’m also typing with a crippled keyboard, which is part of the reason I’m slacking, so if I miss a G, H, or ‘, it’s not that I can’t spell.  My superduper awesome sister is my laptop supplier.  I’m so stoked about this recent addition.  I looks really slick,…
